Interarchival Exchange Programme
The issue of this programme is the circulation of young professionals working in the ACE archives, filling the gap that ARCHIMEDIA hast left. It aims practical archive training through direct contact with other colleagues working in similar, foreign institutions. Specifc working areas and working conditions are defined by the host archives, which have to be contacted directly. The internships are not remunerated.
Following archives are offering internship posts:
1. Archives françaises du film/Centre national de la cinématographie, Bois d'Arcy:
AFF/CNC will accept candidatures for short or long internship training programme from ACE members’staff on the following conditions :
- The candidate must speak fluently french
- AFF/CNC is open to discuss projects with the candidate or the institution in order to finalize the internship programme
- An agreement will be signed with the candidate/institution specifying the terms of the program and giving names of the AFF/CNC supervisors
- Travel and accommodation costs must be beared by candidate or his/her institution. In some cases, additional financial help could be individually negotiated with the local cultural director of the French consulate
- A diary of activities should be kept and a final report made of the internship training with copies handed over to AFF/CNC and ACE.

2. Deutsches Filminstitut - DIF, Frankfurt am Main
DIF offers internship training programme for ACE Members’ staff on the following conditions :
- Travel and accommodation costs must be beared by candidate or his/her institution The DIF will help finding an accomodation.
- A diary of activities should be kept and a final report made of the internship training with copies handed over to DIF and ACE.
2.1 DIF - Photo Archive
Working Areas:
- Digitizing of photographs, slides, negatives and posters
- Use of scanner and digital camera
- Use of software (Photoshop, Thumbs Plus)
- Storage of scans
- Inhouse databases (Microsoft Access)
- Handling, storage and preservation of photographic material from the 20th century.
Duration: 4 weeks, from April to July, and from November to January
Conditions: The candidate must speak English, knowledges in German language are desired.

2.1 DIF - Film Archive
Working areas:
- collecting prints: examination, technical check, take inventory
- research: identification, right owner, history of the copy, original material, history of the restauration
- cataloguing and documentation
- storage of prints: storage inspection and storage care
- selection: preparing for preservation, exchange
- preservation: preparing of film material neg/pos for reprinting or compiling safety kits
- database: controlling, updating, closing gaps
- assistance in current projects.
Conditions:
- knowledge of English language, or better German language (catalogues and databases are based on German language)
- Not necessary, but helpful: experiences with filmprints / handling with film material, maybe experiences at editing table and film winder.
Duration: 4 weeks

2.3 goEast: Festival of Central and Eastern European Film
Working Area:
- Basics of festival organisation
- Research for marketing strategies
- Web research
Duration: 4 weeks
Conditions: Knowledge of German language

3. Narodni Filmovy Archiv (NFA)
Working Areas:
- Digitisation of non-film materials: stills, posters, paper documents
- Basic practice for beginning archivists
Conditions: knowledge of English, basic working knowledge of computer technlogoy
Duration: 2 weeks
Accomodation: The NFA can offer a residency room, completely furnished, in film archive area, ca. 30 km from Prague.
